Important Steps To Help You Deal With Cavities

Dentist Blog

For your teeth health, one of the worst things to deal with is a cavity. These can cause you a lot of pain, and they could damage the structure of your teeth. To prepare and deal with teeth cavities, these steps can be taken.

Eat Healthy Foods

Sometimes the best step to take in order to prepare for cavities is to eat the right foods. That way, cavities are not prone to developing in your mouth over the years. Try eating leafy greens like spinach. This vegetable requires you to chew a lot, which increases the amount of saliva in your mouth. The more saliva in your mouth, the cleaner your teeth are going to be. Then, plaque can't develop easily and cause cavities.

You should also try eating as much cheese as possible. Just like spinach, cheese can increase the saliva production in your mouth. Therefore, plaque is not going to wreak havoc on your teeth, causing cavities to develop often.

Utilize Fluoride Treatments

If you end up getting a cavity, you can try utilizing fluoride treatments. These treatments work best if your cavities have just developed, and if used correctly, they can help restore the structure of your teeth.

There are many types of fluoride treatments on the market today. Some of the most popular include foam fluoride and a liquid solution. These solutions are put on your teeth, and after using them on a regular basis, your tooth enamel is going to be strengthened.

You can also go to a dentist to receive fluoride treatments. These methods are a little quicker, but they are also more expensive.

Get Help from a Dentist

If the cavity has developed and decayed a good portion of your teeth, you need to get help from a dentist. Using a special drill, the decayed portion of your teeth is removed by the dentist. Then, a tooth-colored filling can be used to replace the decayed portion. Since these fillings look just like teeth, no one is going to be able to tell that you have fillings in your mouth.

These fillings don't contain any toxic chemicals, so your health is not going to be affected by them at all. Another benefit of these fillings is that they don't require a lot of your tooth structure to be removed.

One of the worst things to experience in regards to your teeth is a cavity. You can prepare for this tooth problem, though, by eating healthy foods, getting help from a dentist and by utilizing a fluoride treatment. (For more information, contact Kyle J Frisinger DMD)

Getting Your Toddler to the Dentist Once and For All

Toddlers should see a dentist for the first time by the age of twelve months or by the time their first tooth comes in. But if you are a parent with toddlers anything like mine, the prospect of going to the dentist (let alone anywhere!) can be pretty intimidating. My kids were a handful growing up. They had tantrums any time we would have to sit in a waiting room, and they refused to get in the dentist's chair during their first few visits. So, I had to employ a professional to help me make the transition to finally getting them in that dental chair without all the screaming and crying. I know I'm not the only parent in this situation, so I decided to share the information I've learned with others who can use a little help. You can find all my advice right here on these pages!
